Commencement is not a certification of graduation, but rather a ceremony that celebrates your academic achievements. You must satisfy all of your degree requirements before you officially graduate and receive your diploma.
You are eligible to participate in Commencement 2008 and/or Convocation 2008 if you graduated in August 2007, December 2007 or expect to finish your degree requirements this May 2008. If you have 13 hours (or 2 units) remaining and expect to complete your bachelor's or master's degree requirements in August 2008, you may participate in Commencement; however, your name will not appear in the campuswide Commencement Program. Recipients of doctoral degrees must have deposited their dissertations in the Graduate College Thesis Office by May 2, 2008 in order to participate in either the campuswide Commencement ceremony or the college Convocation ceremony.
