For nearly 50 years the College of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has provided groundbreaking leadership in research, education, and public outreach programs related to health, wellness, and enhancing the quality of life. Building upon its leadership in these areas, the College is seeking funds to support a world-class center dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of health, aging, and disability. Areas of support include the following:
$6.0 M – New Facilities
To fully reach our capacity in the areas of health, aging, and disability, additional funds areneeded to renovate and expand space within the College of Applied Health Sciences.
$2.0 M – Chair/Center Director
Funding for an Endowed Faculty Chair allows the College to attract and retain a nationally renowned senior scholar with proven leadership to coordinate activities of the Center. The Chair will be of the caliber to attract other notable scholars–both students and faculty–who can flourish in the climate of inquiry and challenge. The income from the endowed fund may be used to provide full or partial salary support and much of the professor’s specific teaching and research expenses, including graduate student and library support.
$4.5 M – 9 Professorships
Endowed Professorship funds help the College attract and retain distinguished faculty celebrated for teaching, for research, and for the caliber of thinking that inspires both. The income from the fund may be used to augment the professor’s salary or support the professor’s scholarly and research needs. A minimum gift of $500,000 is required to establish an Endowed Professorship.
$0.9 M – 6 Graduate Fellowships
Such funds provide a crucial means of attracting some of the best and brightest graduate students in the world to the College. Income from the fund will be applied toward the support of selected students. A minimum gift of $150,000 is needed to establish an Endowed Graduate Fellowship or Assistantship.
$1.5 M – Support for Research Activities
Funds supply state-of-the-art lab equipment, computer technologies, and seed money to support promising pilot research projects.
$1.5 M – Support for Model Programs
Funds for the development of websites, administrative/technical support, outreach, and education.
