Educational Opportunities and Initiatives

“As our society continues to face unprecedented demographic shifts, the Center on Health, Aging and Disability will create a future that supports the highest quality of life across the lifespan.”

— Tanya Gallagher, Dean, College of Applied Health Sciences

The center identifies and coordinates educational opportunities relating to health, aging and disability. It utilizes mechanisms within the current degree programs to establish undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral training opportunities and aging studies. In addition, the Center also sponsors lectures, colloquia, and symposia on health, aging, and disability.

  • Supports innovative research, education, and outreach efforts addressing the many facets of health, wellness, and quality of life on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus and with peer institutions.
  • Facilitates outreach and internship programs that enhances the quality of educational experiences on campus related to health, aging, and disability and better prepares our graduates to serve the growing population of at-risk children and adolescents, older adults, and persons with disabilities in the state and nation.
  • Engages policy makers, industry leaders, and consumers regarding the health and quality of life of at-risk children and adolescents, older adults, and persons with disabilities.
